Dashboard

The dashboard is the application’s home, at /. Nothing is created here: it shows what you already hold in four ways, and holds one switch that no other page has.

The large card on the left shows the figure, the change over the period, and the curve. It has four controls:

The top of the overview: a wide card on the left holding the net-worth figure, its controls (the chart reading, the categories, the period menu set to 1 year, the markers) and the curve, and a narrower card beside it holding the allocation ring and its legend.
  • Net worth / Gross worth. A menu, each entry defined under its name: net is what you own less what you owe, gross is everything you own before any debt is taken off. When the category filter below leaves your debts out of the curve, the net entry is greyed out with the reason, since there is nothing left to subtract; a selection holding nothing but loans greys out the gross one for the opposite reason.
  • The period, as a list of ten: 1 day, 7 days, 1 month, 3 months, year to date, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years, 5 years and All, each with the date it reaches back to. All ten are offered everywhere, so the default you chose in Settings is always available. Under them, Pick dates… opens two boxes for a period of your own, between any two days.
  • Chart reading: Total as a curve, one line, or Composition by category, the same total split into bands. The second only appears where there is something to split.
  • Categories shown. Ticking none means every category: to get back to that, pick All categories above the list (there is no eleventh box).

Markers, beside them, places the dates of your journey under the curve, each with what net worth did before and after it.

The change beside the figure leaves out your deposits and withdrawals: paying in €1,000 is not a gain of €1,000.

The narrow card beside it splits what you own three ways (By asset, By asset type, By asset class) and draws it as a Pie or as Blocks. Debts are not in it: a slice cannot be negative, so the card says what the gap with net worth is instead.

Spending shows where your money went over the same period as the curve. In a window narrower than 1,600 pixels it sits under both cards, as a ring. Wider, it joins them as a third card, drawn as bars: two rings side by side would look like two halves of one split, where one divides a stock and the other a flow.

The grid at the foot holds up to ten tiles: net worth, change over the year, investment gain, allocation, top expense, top category, completeness, and three drawn from your investor profile. Customize hides or shows each one; the choice is stored on your account, and the button then reads Customize (3 hidden). From about 1,700 px wide, the tiles stand five to a row.

The foot of the overview: nine small tiles over three rows, each one figure with a sentence under it, from the risk profile and the safety cushion to net worth, the year's change and the biggest spending categories.

Two controls act on the same setting:

  • the small eye beside the net-worth figure on this page;
  • the eye in the top bar, left of your name, on every page.

Hide amounts from the figure, and the eye in the bar already offers Show amounts.

The choice is a preference on your account rather than a browser setting, so it follows you to another device, and it is read before the first paint: amounts are never drawn and then hidden.

Until your first account exists this page is empty, with an Add an account button. A Discover Badlen card stays above the others until its steps are done; see Your first account.
