Roadmap
This page is the maintainer’s vision of the project. Nothing on it is confirmed or binding, and any entry can change or be withdrawn. No entry carries a date or a version number.
The first section lists ideas the maintainer would like to build. The second lists what has been turned down, with the reason. Read that second list before you install: those capabilities were weighed and refused, so they are not coming. When a subject was discussed in the open, its entry ends with a link to the thread.
Under consideration
Section titled “Under consideration”- A video presentation of the product, for people who would rather watch than read.
- Reading the statement your bank gives you from the interface, without going through the MCP server. How it stays current describes the gap.
- A first tagged release.
Decided against, and why
Section titled “Decided against, and why”No bank synchronisation
Section titled “No bank synchronisation”Nothing in Badlen signs in to a bank, and nothing will. The one exception is a crypto wallet, because a public address is not a credential.
Why a bank will not answer software installed on your own machine
In the European Union, reading someone’s payment accounts is a regulated activity. A bank answers only a registered, insured and supervised entity, and checks that registration cryptographically on every call. A program that a thousand people install on a thousand machines has no such entity behind it.
Comparable projects take another route: they ask for the credentials of an aggregator you signed up with yourself. Badlen refuses that for a different reason. It would put a copy of your accounts on a company’s servers, and keeping them off those servers is why you install the software on your own machine.
Why no bank sync makes the whole argument, with the legal texts and sources.
No source that needs a paid contract
Section titled “No source that needs a paid contract”A price source ships only if a self-hoster can reach it without signing anything. An optional key that only raises a free rate limit is fine, and the product accepts those.
Why a paid source would break a published feature for everyone else
A provider behind a paid contract, or one that activates an application only after verifying a company, cannot be added however good it is. The feature would work for those who pay and fail for everyone else.
No investment advice
Section titled “No investment advice”Advice applies rules to the figures you entered and tells you what they show. It will not recommend a product, a purchase or a sale, and no screen will ever rank one investment above another.
Why this is not an adviser, and where the product says so again
The product is not a regulated adviser, and it knows nothing about you beyond what you typed into it. The course says so above its chapters, and the simulators say it again on the page where a success rate could most easily read as a promise.
No measurement inside the application
Section titled “No measurement inside the application”An installed instance contacts none of this project’s servers and sends no measurement anywhere. There is no telemetry setting because there is no telemetry: the project does not count the people who use it to look at their own wealth. The site you are reading is online and does measure visits; the privacy page says what a visit leaves behind.
No official hosted Badlen
Section titled “No official hosted Badlen”There is no public Badlen to sign up to. The online demo runs in your browser and keeps nothing. The maintainer offers nothing official, so treat anything calling itself an official hosted Badlen with suspicion. This page will say so if that changes.
Asking for something that is not on this page
Section titled “Asking for something that is not on this page”Getting help says where each kind of request goes. For a capability you want, open an issue with the feature request template, which asks what you need it for. If you cannot put it that way yet, start a Discussion. When a discussion ends in a decision, the decision is added here with a link back to the thread.
